Wheel Brush Product Details
The hardest place to clean on your vehicle is the rims and lug nuts.
Never fear WoollyWormit is here. Meet the innovative and patented wheel and lug nut cleaner that has been tried and tested to fit most stock wheels. WoollyWormit brush head is 13 inches long to clean deep inside the wheel barrel, and bendable so that you can get the backside of the spokes where the dirt likes to hide. A removable and washable soft Chenille microfiber cover fits over the bendable brush body to create the ultimate wheel-cleaning tool.
Save your worn out toothbrushes for the tile grout. One end of the WoollyWormit has a convenient lug nut cleaning sponge that fits right over those hard to get lug nuts and helps scrub away the filth that builds up in between the lug nuts and the actual wheel. The integrated lug nut cleaner comes in two different sizes (both included) to fit the vast majority of passenger vehicle stock wheels found on the roads today.
The WoollyWormit was engineered for professionals - but, designed for you!
WoollyWormit is a patented 13 inch-long, tapered and bendable brush body wrapped in a removable/replaceable/washable soft chenille microfiber cover designed to safely and effectively clean all delicate wheel surfaces found inside and outside the wheels – even where you can’t see.

The All-In-One Brush For Cleaning Your Wheels And Lug Nuts!
The Wheel Brush Reimagined ... Again! Ver. 2.0 is here.
Features & Benefits
- Wheel cleaning re-imagined. Once again. The multi-patented WoollyWormit® wheel brush is effectively a 13-inch long semi-rigid and flexible brush head wrapped entirely in a soft Chenille microfiber cover, with a handy integrated lug nut cleaner. Unlike other brushes, use of a handle is optional. That is, version 2.0 of the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush is re-engineered with a reinforced structure for the included attachable handle that allows you the option to use the handle ... or not. A simple Philips Head screwdriver is required for assembly. (Note: the original version of brush, those sold prior to January 1, 2021, are not structurally designed to work with a handle. Therefore, handles are not sold separately for the original brush.)
- Flexible, safe and effective. Unlike most brushes that have a foam body with a metal or plastic spine, or have an exposed twisted metal wire core, the WoollyWormit wheel brush is constructed of a flexible rubber-like material with a fully concealed internal metal spine. The brush's patented construction and design allows the brush body to bend, yet be rigid enough to maintain the desired shape needed for reaching deep into the wheels' barrels. And at the same time, the brush does not hold excessive amounts of heavy water like a large brush with a foam core would. Unlike many brushes, this tool has no exposed twisted metal spine that makes contact with or scratches the vehicle surfaces.
- Clean it like you mean it. The brush length and width is such that it can fit most wheels, between/through most spokes and reach clear across the inside of most of the inner wheel barrels ... without having to reach your hand inside of wheel and scratch or crack your knuckles. The compressed thickness of the tapered brush tip starts at about 1 in. (2.54 cm) and increases to 1.2 in. (2.8 cm) along the body. This design allows the brush to fit in and clean behind the spokes of most wheels, between the outer edge of the brake rotor and inner wheel barrel, tiny spaces, corners and indentations, and in some cases fitting between the brake caliper housing and the back of spokes. (Note: You'll need at least a 1 in. (2.54 cm) gap for the brush tip to fit between different parts.)
- Better tools = Better Cleaning. What used to be the worst part to clean is now the easiest. Do you hate cleaning around the lug nuts? The integrated lug nut cleaner is designed to easily clean the the lug nuts surfaces and the hard-to-reach wheel cavities surrounding the lug nuts. The lug nut cleaner is constructed of a flexible, but semi-rigid plastic material (red) that supports the proprietary cleaning sponge. This sponge material was designed specifically for the WoollyWormit wheel brush so that it is tough enough to clean road grime and brake dust, but gentle enough to be safe on rim coatings and painted factory surfaces.
- Versatility and Adaptability. The WoollyWormit wheel brush can be used to clean more than the wheels. For example, the brush is great for cleaning inside the hard-to-reach openings in many front grills, in and around the muffler tips, spaces around aftermarket auto accessories, etc. And, for the interior of the car, select a different color Chenille microfiber cover and use the brush dry or damp for dusting the dashboard, seats, rear deck, etc. It's especially great for getting into those tight corners where the dashboard and windshield meet and dust, bugs, hair, coins, etc., collect.
- The cleaning sponges are removable and replaceable. So no need to buy a whole new brush - just order the sponges as needed.
- The cover is designed to be removable for cleaning in the washing machine (gentle cycle), and to change out when different types of cleaning is needed. Different covers can be for used for different purposes – for example, a black cover is great for the dirty wheels and engine compartment, a grey cover for cleaning other parts of the exterior, and the purple cover for dusting the interior.
- The heavy Chenille microfiber cleaning cover holds plenty of water and suds for optimal cleaning. There are 2 pull loops to assist with pulling the cover on, and to hang the brush for storage and drying.
7 Reasons To Get Excited About A WoollyWormit Wheel Brush
Time is our most valuable asset. And, because your time is more valuable than ever, investing in the proper tools is more important than ever. The WoollyWormit Wheel Brush is designed to save you time when cleaning your car, and at the same time doing a better job.
We believe the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush may be one of the most researched car brushes on the market. All the work and research helped us develop a patented
Most people hate cleaning their lug nuts and that space around them. It’s a hard, tedious and thankless job. Yet, for us “clean freaks”, it must be done. Until now, we used old tooth brushes, cotton swabs, makeup brushes, etc., to get rid of that dirt and grime that collects in these areas. Well, now you can throw all those old things away – we crafted your solution! The patented WoollyWormit Wheel Brush is engineered with a special integrated and convenient lug nut cleaner that not only works great, it saves time and effort cleaning one of the most difficult areas of the rims. It’s fast, it’s easy and you’ll love it!
After following the instructions setting up your WoollyWormit Wheel Brush to fit your specific lug nuts, lets, get started.
After determining which lug nut cleaner fits your wheels best and placing it onto the brush body, pick a lug nut to start. Insert the lug nut cleaner over the first lug nut and rotate back and forth about 180 degrees a couple times until clean, and then move on to the next one. When finished with all the lug nuts, simply pull off the lug nut cleaner from the brush body, and place aside or into the bucket until you start on the next wheel.
For those rims with fully concealed center hubs, where there are no visible lug nuts at all, the lug nut cleaner wouldn’t be used. And for those rims that have lug nuts with decorative plastic caps over the individual lug nuts (like found on many Volvo, Audi and Volkswagen models), there is often not enough room between this lug nut cap and the rim cavity wall, and therefore the lug nut cleaner will not fit properly and should not be used. However, the brush is still great for cleaning the rest of the rims.
In some cases where the lug nut cleaner is hard to rotate because the lug nut cavity around the lug nut is not perfectly round, or a center decorative plastic hub cap prevents easy rotation, you can insert the lug nut cleaner/sponge onto and off of the lug nut a few times without rotating, and this can be effective, too.
In the unlikely event that neither of the two WoollyWormit lug nut cleaners fit your lug nuts, don’t force the cleaning sponges in the overly tight space or they will tear. Our goal was to design a product that works on as many lug nut scenarios as possible, but we understand there may be limited situations where the lug nut cleaners simply may not fit, unfortunately. However, the good news is that the WoollyWormit brush body is great for cleaning the rest of the rims – inside and out!
Why have nice and sporty open and deep rims if you are not going to keep them looking great? The extra-long Chenille microfiber brush body reaches where many other brushes cannot. Clean the inner rim by inserting the brush body deep inside the rim between the spokes and move the brush back and forth against the inner rim like a windshield wiper (assuming there is space to do so). Work your way around the rim clockwise between each spoke, being sure to overlap those areas behind the spokes with the back and forth motion - so you get the complete inner circumference clean.
The WoollyWormit makes good-looking rims look great!
Never thought about this before? Well, most people don’t. We've all heard as a kid, "Clean behind your ears"? Well, it's the same thing - sort of. That is, even if the area isn't visible, it's important to keep it clean - because the dirt that collects behind the spokes, and there's a lot of it, eventually ends up down on the inner barrel where it is seen. Additionally, when you clean behind the spokes and move the brush to where the base of the spoke and barrel meet, you'll be cleaning that area of the barrel that's harder to reach when simply wiping the inner barrel with a back and forth motion. So, if you are like us and really obsessed with having clean wheels, and have a burning desire to clean the backside of each spoke once in awhile, now you can do it! One of the brush's coolest features is the unique bendable backbone structure. Simply bend the brush as needed and reach back behind the spokes to clean. No one else may notice your rims are clean behind the spokes, but you will know it! (NOTE: Please see Specifications or Features and Benefits for brush dimensions and minimum opening sizes required for brush to fit.)
Do you have lots of spokes? If so, you know what that means and how much time it takes to clean between each of them. What a BIG PAIN this is - so it's often ignored. But now, no problem – we make it easier for you! The WoollyWormit Wheel Brush has a long and tapered body that makes cleaning between the sides of spokes fast and easy – especially when there’s lots of them! The brush body has a narrow profile that allows it to fit in between most spokes, and/or inside most small openings for a complete cleaning operation. Note: The compressed thickness of the tapered brush tip (with microfiber cover attached) is approximately 1 in. (2.54 cm) and increases to approximately 1.2 in. (3.1 cm), along the rest of the brush body. Therefore, if the spacing between your spokes is less than 1.2 inches, the brush may not work for your wheels.
Do you have complex design Wheels? Let us help you save time with those. Wheel designs have become quite complex. These look great … when clean. However, keeping them clean can take forever. We took this challenge and designed the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush to make your life easier (well, at least this part of your life). Using the tapered brush tip, now you can scrub tight corners, indentations, grooves and cut-outs with ease. Cleaning these complex wheels is not fun, but they make any vehicle look great when clean.
We all love making the face of the rim shine bright. That’s the part we all see – that’s the part from which we feel the most gratification as we step back from the car and admire a job well done. The WoollyWormit makes this process super fast and easy - and does so with little effort. With the long, wide thick Chenille microfiber-covered brush pampering the face of rim, the WoollyWormit makes your rims shine with ease. Additionally, the WoollyWormit Wash Mitt With Thumb is the perfect mate for cleaning the face of the wheels!
Once you’ve finished cleaning, simply remove the cover from the brush body, rinse out and hang dry using one of the convenient pull/hang loops. Additionally, feel free to occasionally put the cover in your washing machine and give it a good bath (without bleach). (However, do NOT dry the cover in the clothes dryer – as the material is not designed for this type of drying.)
And better yet, additional covers can be purchased and used for different purposes (additional covers sold separately). For example, use one cover for cleaning the dirty wheels and engine compartment, another for the car body, and keep a clean, dry cover around for dusting the dashboard and those hard-to-reach corners at the windshield, as well as rear window deck, leather seats, etc.
Specifications
- Brush body length, without handle and not including lug nut cleaner post (basically the length of the brush that can be held within the hand): 12.8 in. (32.5 cm.)
- Brush body length overall assembled, with handle and lug nut cleaner attached: approximately 20.3 in. (51.6 cm)
- Width (with microfiber cover attached): The compressed width of the tapered brush tip is approximately 1.1 in. (2.8 cm.) and increases to approximately 2 in. (5.1 cm.) for the rest of the brush body.
- Thickness (with microfiber cover attached): The compressed thickness of the tapered brush tip is approximately 1 in. (2.54 cm) and increases to approximately 1.2 in. (3.1 cm), along the rest of the brush body.
- Integrated Lug Nut Cleaners: The two lug nut cleaners (removable), small and large, fit most standard OEM lug nuts, as well as the wheel cavities surrounding the lug nuts. Note: The spacing between the lug nuts and wheel cavities surrounding the lug nuts vary significantly across the hundreds of makes and models of cars over the years. As a result, the 2 sizes of lug nut cleaners were designed to fit most OEM wheels. However, there are some car makes and/or models (some Volvos, some Volkswagons, etc.) that come with individual lug nut covers that fit over each individual lug nut, and some lug nut covers that fit over the group of all the lug nuts. For these wheels, the lug nut cleaners will not fit/work. We recommend that you look at your wheels and make sure your lug nuts are exposed, and there is at least a 1/8 in. (.3 cm.) gap between the lug nut corners and the wheel cavity wall.
- Attachable handle design - The WoollyWormit Wheel Brush was designed specifically to not need a designated handle. Often times, hard handles can get in the way, depending on the wheel design and user cleaning methods. To provide the greatest versatility, the wheel brush's innovative design has a brush body with a length over 12 in. long (30.5 cm.) that can be grabbed by your hand anywhere along its length. So, a traditional fixed handle isn't usually needed. However, if you prefer a handle, the kit comes with an attachable handle that is secured via a tiny bolt (Philips Head screwdriver needed for quick assembly.) This brush was designed to eliminate the need to use harsh wheel cleaners and wheel acids (with ongoing proper maintenance), meaning a dedicated handle isn't necessary to protect hands from contact with chemicals. Therefore, with simple car wash soap, the user can grab the brush anywhere and clean the wheels. Note: if harsh chemicals are used, and/or you need a longer reach, the attachment of the handle is an option.
- Designed for OEM wheels on passenger cars, SUVs and light pickup trucks (not for commercial vehicles and not specifically for aftermarket wheels and accessories that vary much from OEM sizes and specs). NOTE: the brush may not fit the inside of small openings and slots, nor in between the back of some spokes and brake caliper housing, nor in between the outer edge of some large brake rotors and inner wheel barrels if openings are smaller than the brush dimensions. Please see elsewhere in specifications and product details for size of brush.
- Hanging loops for quicker drying on the covers.

Important Do's:
- Keep the cleaning sponge's center core in place. In the center of each sponge is a fitted star-shaped cleaning core that is designed to clean the face of the lug nut. Please do NOT remove. The die cut core allows the center sponge to compress separately from the outer edges of the sponge.
- Wash the wheels on a routine basis with regular car shampoo and the need for harsh wheel cleaning chemicals is eliminated or minimized.
- After washing the wheels, remove the Chenille microfiber cover, squeeze out excess water (do not twist and wring dry) and hang dry with one of the handy hanging loops.
- Machine washable (gentle cycle); do NOT use bleach
Important Don’ts:
- Do NOT use the red lug nut cleaner, when attached to the end of the brush, as the handle, nor use it as an extension of the brush body for use as a handle. The lug nut cleaner and its attachment point were not designed to be used as a handle.
- Do NOT remove the sponge center core. Although this center part is removable, it was designed to remain inside the center of the sponge during cleaning - so that it can compress separately from the cleaning sponge's outer circumference.
- Do NOT dry in clothes dryer
- Do NOT use bleach
Setting Up Your WoollyWormit Wheel Brush - Assembly Instructions
Your wheel brush arrives to you already dressed. However, to install the cover, pull the Chenille microfiber cleaning cover up over the brush body using the 2 pull loops. The cover is made to fit over the brush body in a specific way, with each of the 2 pull loops sliding up along the 2 short sides of the brush body, starting from the narrowest end/tip of brush body, and ending with the cover’s elastic opening wrapping over the top of the body with the lug nut post sticking out from the cover. Note: the cleaning cover is designed to fit snugly, so carefully pull the cover up the brush body.
The black cleaning sponges are specifically designed for their respective red lug nut cleaner frames (large and small). Therefore, place the 4 openings on larger cleaning sponge onto the 4 flanges of the larger red lug nut cleaner and the 4 openings on the smaller cleaning sponge onto the 4 flanges of the smaller red lug nut cleaner.
The black cleaning sponges are designed to have a tight fit over the 4 red flanges of the lug nut cleaner frames. If the sponges seem like a tight fit over the flanges, then simply put some of the car soap onto the 4 red lug nut cleaner flanges, or soak the sponges in the soapy water to help lubricate the red flanges. In doing so, the sponges should more easily slide down the flanges all the way to the base.
Keep the cleaning sponge's center core in place. In the center of each sponge is a fitted star-shaped cleaning core that is designed to clean the face of the lug nut. Please do NOT remove. The die cut core allows the center sponge to compress separately from the outer edges of the sponge.
Note: the cleaning sponges are designed to fit snugly onto the red lug nut cleaners. As mentioned above, soaking the sponges in soapy water or putting soap on the red flanges helps slide the sponges onto the lug nut cleaner more easily. Simply “tap” the sponge with your fingers, or push down with your fingers or palm, and slide the sponge down the flanges until the sponge is fully seated and up against the lug nut cleaner base. Note: Please make sure the center star-shaped core of the sponge remains in place, as the center piece is there to clean the face of the lug nut cleaner.
Next, decide if the large or small lug nut cleaner/sponge works best for your wheels’ lug nuts. To do so, simply try out both assembled lug nut cleaners to see which fits the best around the lug nut AND simultaneously within the lug nut cavity, without them being too tight as you rotate the sponge around the lug nut. It is possible that both lug nuts cleaners will work on your lug nuts, or just one of them.
The fit of the sponge within the wheels' lug nut cavities will determine, in part, the useful life of cleaning sponges. The tighter the fit, the harder the brush scrubs, but the shorter the useful life may be.
There are literally thousands of wheels, with different lug nut sizes, different sized lug nut cavities, with different shapes and sharpness of edges of lug nuts. And, of course we all scrub differently. Therefore, it’s impossible to determine the number of lug nut cleanings each sponge can complete in its useful life. However, it is anticipated each sponge should be able to minimally clean the car’s 4 wheels multiple times before needing replacement.
Note: the lug nut cleaners are designed specifically for passenger vehicle rims - not for lug nuts found on large trucks, commercial vehicles and large truck chassis-based vehicles. However, the WoollyWormit brush body works great on any rim.
4. Attachment Of The Handle
There are various options for use of the handle. The handle can be attached to the brush body to extend the reach of the brush, and to which the lug nut cleaner can be added at the end, as well. Or, as another great feature, the handle can be used independently as a stand alone lug nut scrubbing tool (not be attached to the brush body), with the lug nut cleaner attached at the end.
To extend the reach of the brush body, take the included handle, and with a small Phillips Head screwdriver remove the bolt from the base of the handle (as product is shipped). NOTE: the locknut will/should remain in place within the plastic housing (to minimize loss of nut).
At the wide end of the brush body is a 1 in. (2.5 cm) long black post. On the post is a raised ridge that aligns with a slot on the round opening on the base of red lug nut cleaner. Next, align the post's ridge or "key" with the slot in the base of red lug nut cleaner and slide the post up into the lug nut cleaner until the holes align through the post and lug nut cleaner. The fit is tight by design and you must exert pressure to get the post all the way up into the base, to get the holes to align.
Once the holes align, insert the threaded end of the bolt back through the hole and into the lock nut threads. Tighten the bolt to secure the handle in place. (NOTE: Do not over tighten such that the plastic handle is damaged or threads get stripped.)
Place the assembled lug nut cleaner and sponge onto the post end of the handle, or onto the brush body post directly (if handle is not attached to brush body), by properly aligning the little ridge or “key” raised on the post with the slot inside the round opening of the red lug nut cleaner.
Both ends of the cleaning sponges are designed to be used for cleaning the lug nuts. This increases the useful life of each sponge. For example, when one end of the sponge comes to the end of its useful cleaning life, simply pull the sponge off of the red lug nut cleaner and flip it over. Then, re-insert the sponge onto lug nut cleaner, starting with the used end first. Voila! You can continue to use the same sponge for additional cleanings!
One of the best features of the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush is the ability to bend the brush into the desired shape. The combination of length and bend-ability makes this a great brush with many cleaning benefits. In addition to cleaning the outside of wheels, like other wheel brushes do, the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush is engineered and designed to also reach in and clean the inside areas of the wheels that many other brushes cannot. To do so requires a bendable “backbone” which is developed from a special metal that is integrated within the flexible black brush body. This metal is specifically designed to balance the need for rigidity and strength, with that of bend-ability. This special feature benefits you with great cleaning flexibility - yet the design does not allow any metal to contact rim surfaces and cause damage like many brushes do. NOTE: The physical properties of metal are such that all metals will fatigue and break at some point with repeated bending. Prior to breaking, the metal will get soft and lose its rigidity. The useful life of the brush body and the amount of bends the brush body will endure depends on how the user bends the brush, where and how often the body is bent, and if the brush is bent in exactly the same place each time it is bent. For this reason, we are unable to state the exact number of bending cycles that can occur before fatigue leads to breaking - however, hundreds of bending cycles have been successfully tested.
Properly clean and dry the microfiber cover after each use. After washing your car, simply remove the cover from the brush body. Then, insert the end of the hose into the opening of the cover and briefly run the water to clean the cover from the inside out. When rinsed clean, carefully squeeze out the excess water from the cover and hang dry by using one of the convenient pull/hang loops.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Although the cover can be cleaned in a washing machine with regular clothes detergent (and no bleach), do NOT dry the cover in a clothes dryer. The microfiber material is not designed to be dried in a clothes dryer – always hang dry.
The WoollyWormit Wheel Brush is designed with removable microfiber covers. Not only can you remove the cover for cleaning on an as-needed basis, but, just as importantly you can use different covers for different purposes. For example, use the black cover for cleaning dirty wheels and engine compartments. Use another cover to clean the hard-to-reach areas of car body (across roofs, large hoods and windshields). And use another cover dry for dusting the interior, especially the hard to reach dashboard corners, rear windshield deck and large seating areas where dirt collects. (Note: Some people like to even use the WoollyWormit to clean their household windows, window screens and lawn furniture, and other areas that require scrubbing on delicate surfaces.)

Select the right cleaning tools for efficiency, effectiveness and prevention of damage. For cleaning the wheels, select a brush that reaches most or all areas, and doesn't have exposed metal parts to scratch rims or have hard bristle brushes. For washing the car body, use a microfiber mitt or cloth that doesn't hold or attract grit and abrasive dirt which scratches surfaces. Sponges are commonly used, but they can retain dirt particles and grit in the pores, so these are typically not recommended. The WoollyWormit Wheel Brush and WoollyWormit Mitt With Thumb are designed and built specifically for cleaning efficiency, effectiveness, and protection of delicate surfaces. Unlike most regular wheel brushes, users have the opportunity to clean more areas and more hard-to-reach places with the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush - and do so without having a metal/plastic spine or twisted metal spine make damaging contact with the wheel surfaces. The WoollyWormit Mitt With Thumb is made with soft Chenille microfiber, and has a built in thumb that makes washing the car body and the mirrors, door handles, grill, etc., easier than ever. Plus, you can hold the hose, pick up the bucket, hold the the wheel brush, all without removing the mitt.
A very common way to clean a car is to fill up a bucket with soapy water and use that to clean everything. However, because the wheels are typically the dirtiest parts of the car, don’t ever wash the wheels first and then use that same dirty water to clean the car body. Because the wheels collect abrasive brake residue dust, road dirt and grime, all this junk gets transferred to the water during cleaning. And then, this filth gets transferred to and can damage the delicate painted/clearcoat surfaces during washing. That’s not a good thing. Instead, clean the car body first, then clean the rims with the remaining water, maybe adding a little fresh water and soap if needed. Your paint and clearcoat will love it! … Or… For many of us, since cleaning the wheels is pure drudgery, we tackle the wheels first to “get it over with”. Wheels are only about 3-5% of the entire surface area of the car – yet they can take about 50% of the time it takes to clean the entire car. That’s not fun! All we want to do is finish this chore and move onto the most gratifying part – cleaning the car body. If you are like us and prefer to clean the rims first, just don’t use that same bucket of dirty water to then clean the car body and windows. Many pros actually have separate buckets for cleaning the wheels and the car body.
The amount of cleaning you want to do on your wheels is dependent on the time, patience and commitment you have. Many people start with the cleaning the lug nuts and lug nut cavities first. Next, simply pick a routine that fits your style and has consistent motions. For example, start by visually selecting a position on the wheel (say 12:00 o'clock) and begin cleaning an area (say inside the wheel barrel) and move around the wheel in a clockwise rotation with the same cleaning motions. And, once back at 12:00, clean the next area (say behind the spokes) and move in a clockwise rotation again with the same cleaning motions until back at 12:00. And, continue this pattern of focusing on a single area until all the areas are clean. And, of course, once the washing has finished, rinse off the wheel and move on to the next wheel. Our WoollyWormit Wheel Brush was designed, patented and constructed specifically for those who want to clean all areas of their wheels, and to do so without causing any damage to the surfaces.
Soap is a good thing. Too much is not. It’s not like adding icing to a warm glazed donut – where the more we add the better it is. Mistakenly, we often think the more soap we use, the better it is for cleaning. But, actually, too much soap is not only a waste of soap, it can be bad for your paint and clearcoat, waxed surfaces and rubber parts – especially if the soap is not designed for automotive use.
In reality, less soap can be better for a car than too much - as soap can be harsh on the paint and rubber surfaces, it can leave residue and even remove protective waxes. Therefore, only use enough soap to be effective. And ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS use soap formulated for automotive use – dish soaps and laundry detergents are formulated for other types of cleaning and can harm your painted surfaces and rubber parts.
Try to avoid washing your car in direct sunlight, especially if the car surface is hot. You don’t want to expose a soapy car surface to direct sunlight. Even worse, don’t allow the soapy water to dry on the car.
Dried soap residue on your car’s painted surface is hard to remove and can leave spots - often requiring harsher abrasive cleaners to then remove the spots. And, often these cleaners can be worse on the paint and clearcoat than the original dirt was.
So, try to find a shady spot to wash the car. Or, if that’s not possible, try to clean earlier in the day or in the evening, when the sunlight is less direct. Or, if a hot sunny afternoon in the sun is all you got, then be quick with the soapy water and rinse often. It's best to keep the surface wet, until you dry with your chamois - don't let the water evaporate from the surface. The evaporated water will cause spots.
If you have extremely dirty wheels, or those that haven’t been cleaned in a while, or those that are stained, it usually makes sense to spray the wheel with a cleaning product designed specifically for cleaning wheels. However, keep in mind these cleaners are strong cleaning agents, or sometimes acids. So, we recommend that you use them only as directed, only as needed, and do not leave on the wheels very long. Then, once you start cleaning the wheels on a more regular basis, the regular car soap will usually work fine going forward.
Note: Only use soaps formulated as car shampoos. Dish soaps, laundry detergents, etc., are soaps that can harm your paint/clearcoat, waxed surfaces and rubber parts.
Yes, the WoollyWormit is very versatile. In addition to cleaning the wheels efficiently, effectively and safely, it can be used for:
Cleaning engine compartments, front grills, etc. Cleaning the hard-to-reach areas of the car, such as across the roof and windshield, large hoods and trunks, etc. Cleaning motorcycles, boats, RVs, and more - where an extended reach is helpful. Dusting the car interiors, especially across and in the tight corners of dashboards, rear window decks, seats, etc. Cleaning household windows and screens, outdoor furniture and cushions And more …
FAQ's
The WoollyWormit Wheel Brush is a patented 13-inch-long, tapered and bendable wheel brush wrapped in a soft removable/replaceable Chenille microfiber cover designed to safely and effectively clean all delicate wheel surfaces found inside and outside the wheels – even places where you can’t see. Plus, unlike any other wheel brush, the WoollyWormit brush features a handy integrated lug nut cleaner to help clean those difficult tiny spaces around the lug nuts. With two sizes included in the package, the lug nut cleaners are designed to fit the vast majority of OEM car wheels. So, now you can finally get off your knees and throw away your toothbrushes and cotton swabs used to scrub around the lug nuts.
Additional cleaning sponges and microfiber covers sold separately.
The compressed thickness of the brush with cover, at the tapered brush tip, starts at about 1 inch and increases up to 1-1/8 inch. The compressed width of the tapered brush tip is approximately 1.1 in. and increases to approximately 2 in. for the rest of the brush body. If you want to clean between the outer perimeter of the brake rotor and inner wheel barrel, or if you want to clean between the brake caliper housing and behind the spokes, please be aware of the amount of space needed in which to insert the brush tip. The brush fits in these tight spaces on many rims, but not all. So, please measure these openings on your rims to make sure they will fit the thickness of the brush tip.
The multi-patented WoollyWormit Wheel Brush was designed by car aficionados for car aficionados. So, every aspect of the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush is designed to make this a better cleaning tool.
Unlike other wheel brushes, the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush has an integrated lug nut cleaner for simultaneously washing both the lug nuts and the rim areas around the lug nuts. Unlike many wheel brushes, the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush has no exposed metal spine, hard bristles or harsh materials that would scratch or damage rim surfaces.
Unlike most brushes with short cleaning heads, the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush is about 13-inches long with a soft Chenille microfiber cover designed to reach and clean deep into and across the wheels. The compressed thickness of the brush tip starts at about 1 inch and increases up to 1-1/8 inch, and the width at tip is about 1.2 inches and increases to about 2 inches. Therefore, if you want to clean between the outer perimeter of the brake rotor and inner wheel barrel, or if you want to clean between the brake caliper housing and behind the spokes, please be aware of the amount of available space in which to insert the brush tip. The brush fits in these tight spaces on many rims, but not all. So, please measure these openings on your rims to make sure they will fit the thickness of the brush tip.
Unlike other brushes that cannot be bent, the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush is flexible and engineered specifically to remain straight or be bent into a user-desired shape.
Unlike most brushes with a handle, the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush Version 2.0 can be used with the included attachable handle, or not - depending on how you like to use your brush. Without the handle, the brush is shorter and perfect for when overall length is not important. Without attaching the handle, the entire brush is a “cleaning machine” and the user can hold it comfortably anywhere along the entire length of the brush. With the handle attached, the overall length is increased just over 4 inches for added reach. (Note: The removable lug nut cleaner is not a handle.) Version 2.0 has a reinforced structure and comes with the attachable handle (simple Philips-head screwdriver required for assembly). Note: the original version of brush, those sold prior to January 1, 2021, are not structurally designed to work with a handle. Therefore, handles are not sold separately for the original brush.
Unlike other brushes, the WoollyWormit has a removable cleaning cover that offers many benefits, including the ability to remove it for washing, and the ability to switch out various covers for different car cleaning purposes.
...And more - unlike most wheel brushes, the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush has many other uses aside from just cleaning wheels. For example: Switch the covers for different purposes; it’s great for cleaning the hard-to-reach car and SUV rooftops, across windshields and large hoods/trunks; keep a clean and dry cover for dusting the dashboard and other hard-to-reach interior areas; it’s good for cleaning engine compartments; ideal for washing motorcycles, RVs, boats and more; it's good for dusting in the home and cleaning windows.
All of these WoollyWormit Wheel Brush features save you time as you clean, while making it easier and doing a better job cleaning than ever before – and doing so without damaging your wheels like other brushes can.
Anyone who cleans their own cars, or cleans cars for others would benefit from this innovative car cleaning product. Go ahead and order today and start saving time right away. And, even if you don’t wash your own car, we’re sure you know someone who does that would truly appreciate the benefits of the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush - it makes a great gift!
The WoollyWormit Wheel Brush can clean most types of wheels. Depending on the shape of the wheels' details, design, openings, sizes, etc., the brush can clean some or all of the unobstructed wheel surfaces. With some wheels, the gaps or spaces between the disc brake rotor and the inner wheel barrel, or the spaces between the back sides of the spokes and the brake caliper housing, may be too narrow for the brush tip to fit. The compressed thickness of the tapered brush tip starts at about 1 inch and goes up to 1-1/8 inch. While the brush fits in many wheels' tight spaces, the brush structure will not fit all. And while the integrated lug nut cleaner works on almost all cars, SUVs, mini vans, pickup trucks, etc., there are a few exceptions (as described elsewhere in the FAQs). Different wheels and lug nut designs have different effects on the sponge lug nut cleaners. Some lug nuts and their edges tear up the sponge material more easily than others, so be gentle if your lug nuts are one of the designs that are tough on the sponges – your WoollyWormit Wheel Brush will thank you by lasting longer.
The WoollyWormit Wheel Brush kit comes with, among other parts : a) two sizes of red lug nut cleaners (large and small), and b) two sizes of corresponding cleaning sponges (large and small). The cleaning sponge sizes are not interchangeable between the red lug nut cleaners. For example, the large and small sponges fit the large and small lug nut cleaner structures, respectively. The lug nut cleaner and sponge combined makes a lug nut cleaner set. Please select the cleaner set that fits and cleans your wheels’ lug nut areas best. This is first determined by trying both sets on your rims and selecting the one you feel cleans best. Note: the lug nut cleaner set should rotate smoothly around the lug nuts. If too tight, it will tear the sponges more quickly. The lug nut cleaner size required does not necessarily correlate to the size of the vehicles. For example, some larger cars have smaller lug nuts and some smaller cars have larger lug nuts. Therefore, it’s best to try out both lug nut cleaner sets to determine which set works best for your wheels. In some cases, both the large and small set may work on your car.
The sponge is designed to fit snugly onto the flanges of the red lug nut cleaner. If not, the sponges could slide off the flanges when you pull the lug nut cleaner off of the actual lug nuts. The first thing to do is to make sure you are matching the correct sponges to the correct red lug nut cleaners. The larger sponge only fits on the larger lug nut cleaner, and the smaller sponge only fits on the smaller lug nut cleaner. Once the correct sponge is matched with the lug nut cleaner, you can do two simple things to more easily slide the sponge onto the lug nut cleaner:
Lubricate the red flanges with the car soap and then slide the flanges into the sponge's four slots; and/or Soak the sponge with the soapy water and then slide the flanges into the sponge's four slots. After placing the red flanges into the beginning of the sponge slots, simply tap the sponges with your fingers, or push the sponge down the flanges until the sponge is fully seated and up against the lug nut cleaner base.
Additionally, once you start cleaning the lug nuts, the sponge will also seat itself properly against the base of the lug nut cleaner.
The WoollyWormit kit includes:
1 Brush body, 1 Handle with bolt and locknut, 1 Cleaning cover, Chenille microfiber, 1 large lug nut cleaner (red), 1 small lug nut cleaner (red), 4 cleaning sponges for large lug nut cleaner, 4 cleaning sponges for small lug nut cleaner Note: Additional cleaning sponges and microfiber covers sold separately.
The WoollyWormit Wheel Brush includes various parts: the brush body, the cover, and the lug nut cleaner frame (2) and lug nut cleaner sponges (8 total).
Regarding the brush body and cover, it can clean most wheels. The compressed thickness of the tapered brush tip starts at about 1 inch and goes up to 1-1/8 inch. Therefore, the spaces and gaps you want to reach into need to be at least 1 inch by 1-1/8 inch wide. If you want to clean between the outer perimeter of the brake rotor and inner wheel barrel, or if you want to clean between the brake caliper housing and behind the spokes, please be aware of the amount of available room in which to insert the brush tip. So, please measure these openings on your wheels to make sure they will fit the thickness of the brush tip.
Regarding the lug nut cleaner fitting all wheels, the answer is “it will fit most wheels but not all” as there are some exceptions. Please see below for those exceptions:
Some vehicles come with lug nuts that have individual plastic decorative caps that fit over and cover each of their individual lug nuts. For example, many of the newer Volvo models have either chrome-plated plastic caps, or gray plastic caps over the metal lug nuts. These outer plastic caps are too large for the lug nut cleaner and sponge to fit over them. In those cases, do not force the lug nut cleaner and sponge over them, as the lug nut cleaner may break and the sponges will rip. Therefore, if you would like to clean the rim inside and around the lug nuts, you’ll need to remove the plastic lug nut caps first. (Note: your car should have come with a little tool/tweezers for removing the caps for when a tire needs to be changed.)
Some vehicles, such as some larger SUVs and pickup trucks, have decorative plastic center hub covers that cover the center hub portion of the wheels, but leave the lug nuts still exposed. For example, some Toyota, Lexus, Cadillac, GMC trucks and SUVs have these wheel designs. And, our research shows these plastic covers often don’t create a perfectly smooth and round lug nut cavity opening around the lug nuts - making it somewhat difficult to rotate the lug nut cleaner smoothly back and forth around the lug nuts. In these cases, in order to minimize tearing of the cleaning sponges, simply insert the lug nut cleaner on and off over the lug nuts to wipe clean, rather than rotating the sponge back and forth around the lug nuts. This minimizes damage to the sponge and increases their useful life. Also, sometimes the smaller of the two lug nut cleaner sets will rotate better within that space around the lug nuts – so try that out, too.
Some vehicles have decorative plastic center hub covers that cover the center portion of the wheels AND also hide the lug nuts, with no lug nuts exposed. For example, some Cadillacs, GMCs, Audis, Volkswagens, Fiats, etc., and many ultra-luxury cars (Rolls Royce, Bentley, etc.) have wheels with lug nuts hidden or not exposed. Additionally, many aftermarket rims have covered or hidden lug nuts. With hidden lug nuts, there’s not much of a need to clean them. Jon and Scott always insist on doing a lot of their own research. With that in mind, they have personally got down on their hands and knees and measured and tested 1200+ car rims in their research for the WoollyWormit Wheel Brush. And, with the two sizes of lug nut cleaners included in the standard kit, they have tried to accommodate most every wheels out there. However, it’s entirely possible that a wheel style has not been tested or a new style that has recently come out and it is found that the wheel brush is unable to fit the wheel’s lug nuts. However, the WoollyWormit is still a great brush for cleaning the rest of the wheels – as the lug nut cleaner is just one benefit of many offered by this brush.
If your rims have not been maintained properly, or have not been cleaned in a while, and/or are stained or extremely dirty with excessive brake dust, we recommend soaking the rims in a mild wheel cleaner product designed specifically for cleaning rims, prior to scrubbing with the WoollyWormit, Wheel Brush. While the WoollyWormit is a great product, it cannot work miracles – so pre-soaking with a wheel cleaning product may help the toughest cleaning situations greatly … and make your life much easier. However, most wheel cleaners are very harsh chemicals - so please follow manufacturer's instructions.
Typically, use soaps and cleaners designed specifically for car washing. Do not use bleach or other harsh cleaning agents not designed for car care. Tire/wheel cleaners are typically stronger cleaning chemicals, so use only as directed on the packaging – not only to protect the WoollyWormit, but to protect the wheels’ paint and clearcoat surfaces. Cleaning wheels that have not been cleaned in a while, or are very dirty, stained, etc., would be assisted by using wheel cleaner soaps for removing any stubborn stains and dirt. However, once the stubborn dirt has been removed with the wheel cleaning soap, ongoing routine maintenance of your rims would only require regular car soap thereafter.
The WoollyWormit removable cleaning cover is built for long-term use with proper care. After washing the vehicle and rinsing off the brush, simply remove the cover from the brush body and lightly squeeze out the remaining water and hang dry, using one of the two pull loops. Occasional cleaning in a washing machine is fine. However, do NOT put the cover in clothes dryer, as the material is not designed for this. See “Care Tag” inside the cover near the opening for details.
Additionally, the covers are removable to allow users to use different covers for different cleaning purposes. For example, use the black cover for the wheels, the gray cover for the car body, and the purple for dusting the car dashboard and interior.
The WoollyWormit lug nut cleaning sponges are a propriety sponge material exclusively designed for this patented product. The two sizes of sponges (large and small) are engineered specifically to clean without damaging the wheel, painted and clearcoat surfaces. However, this means they will wear out with usage. The useful life of the sponge will vary on how much and how hard you scrub, as well as, the fit of the lug nut cleaner around the lug nuts, the shape of the lug nuts, and sharpness of the edges of the lug nuts. Simply use the sponges until they no longer clean to your satisfaction. The 4 through-slots in each sponge allow you to reverse the sponge onto the red lug nut cleaner frame when one end of the sponge is “wore out”. This provides additional useful life before you need to replace the sponge with a new one. NOTE: Some lug nuts will tear the sponge material at the leading end of the sponge. However, the sponge is still good for cleaning many lug nuts before replacement is needed. Leave the “star” shaped inner core material inside the center of the sponge, as this is there to specifically clean the face of the lug nut.
First of all, if you are reading this section, your WoollyWormit Wheel Brush is really going to love you for caring! The Chenille microfiber cleaning brush can be washed in your washing machine, per instructions found on the cover’s inside label. However, drying the cover in a clothes dryer will damage the cover. Please use one of the two pull loops to hang dry.
Don’t leave the brush body sit outside in the sun without the cover. The heat and UV light are not good for it, just like it’s not good for you to sit out in the sun unprotected.
The convenient and useful flexibility of the brush is made possible by having a special metal spine integrated within the pliable body structure. And, while we encourage you to use the brush as often and however you’d like, keep in mind that bending any metal over and over repeatedly in the same spot can cause metal fatigue and eventually break. Unfortunately, this is a physical property of metal that we cannot change. Therefore, to prolong the useful life of your brush, try bending it in different spots occasionally when wanting to clean behind the spokes. Your WoollyWormit will thank you for this.
The WoollyWormit is not only great at cleaning wheels, it great at the following – just switch the cover as needed:
Washing the hard-to-reach car and SUV rooftop areas Washing across the windshield and large hood/trunk areas Wiping down the engine compartment Dusting the dashboard and hard-to-reach corners, rear deck, seats and car interior Cleaning motorcycles, RVs and boats and more .... including household items and windows

The WoollyWormit Wheel Brush Plus takes its inspiration from the little Woolly Worm, also called the Woolly Bear Caterpillar - a cute caterpillar with bands of long black and brown bristle-like hair. Found throughout many parts of North America, these little fluffy creatures are known for surviving extremely cold winters. A favorite of children, because of their soft and colorful exterior, they’re often picked up and held in children’s hands. They grow up into the Isabella Tiger Moth. Folklore has it that the Woolly Bear Caterpillar can predict the coming Winter by their color bands.

As with all the products Black Tie Brands develops, invents or patents, the goal is to simply find better ways of doing things. The wheel brush is no different. It may sound a little boastful, but our wheel brush may be one of the most engineered wheel brushes in the world. This patented brush was designed specifically to address many or most of the challenges with cleaning wheels: cleaning as many of the hard to reach places as efficiently as possible, and to do so without damaging the wheels. This includes cleaning deep inside the wheel barrels, back behind the spokes, in corners, etc., and especially in and around the hard-to-reach lug nut areas. Additionally, the brush was designed so that there are no exposed metal parts, especially like those found in the bristle brushes with center twisted metal cores. The brush was designed to be flexible, yet rigid, so scrubbing is possible where your hands don't reach. Our brush was built from the ground up, to address a number of issues commonly found with the typical wheel brushes, and to make cleaning better and more efficient. Some of the most obvious differences is that the brush has an integrated lug nut cleaner, it is longer than most, it is wrapped in soft Chenille microfiber, it's bendable, and that it doesn't have a dedicated handle. Addtionally, the cover can be removed for cleaning or switched out for another cover for other cleaning functions. We're often asked, "Where's the handle?" Our response is simply, "There is no dedicated handle. The brush was designed so that the whole brush can be the handle, as the user can grab it anywhere along it's entire 13 inche length - not have to grab it just at the end like most brushes require."
The brush is designed to clean wheels that have a lot of exposed and visible surface area, inside and out, that can collect dirt and grime. The brush was designed to clean areas that are hard to get your hands into - like deep within the wheel barrels and behind the spokes. The brush has an integrated lug nut cleaner that is great for cleaning the lug nuts and the hard-to-reach tiny cavities in and around the lug nuts - where users often use Q-Tips and old tooth brushes to scrub inside these tiny areas. Additionally, the brush was designed to clean the wheels with simple car shampoo and water - not with harsh wheel cleaners and chemicals. We all know that when the wheels are hard to clean, we don't want to do it - and therefore some people don't clean them properly as often as they should. At the same time, when the wheels are cleaned properly, there's always the feeling of satisfaction for a job well done.
The WoollyWormit Wheel Brush was constructed of materials designed for cleaning wheels with regular car shampoos. Harsh wheel cleaning chemicals and wheel acids, bleach, etc., are damaging to the brush materials and Chenille microfiber covers (as they are with wheel and painted surfaces when not used properly). Once wheels have been cleaned, simply remove the cover from the brush body and rinse off with hose water to remove dirt, especially gritty and abrasive materials. After rinsing, squeeze out water and hang dry with one of the pull loops. When covers are really dirty, feel free to place in the washer on gentle cycle. And, again when finished, hang dry with pull loops. Do not put the covers in a clothes dryer.
The wheel brush should be rinsed off after use, to obviously remove dirt, especially gritty and abrasive particles. For more thorough cleaning, you can wash the covers in a washing machine on gentle cycle and hang dry in ventilated area, using the handy loop on the cuff.
Do NOT dry covers in clothes dryer - this fabric is not designed to be dried in a dryer. To remove excess water, simply squeeze out water from cover - do NOT twist and wring dry to prevent stretching and tearing of fabric. The WoollyWormit Wheel Brush covers come with convenient hanging loops sewn into the elastic band for hanging in ventilated or sunny areas to air dry.
Well, we cannot be sure it will fit everyone's wheels, however, it fits the vast majority of OEM wheels on the market and many aftermarket wheels. The types of wheels where the brush may not fit properly are those wheels that have very small gaps, openings and spaces between spokes, or when the outer edges of brake rotors are very close to the inner wheel barrels, or when there is very little space between the backs of the spokes and the brake disks. The width and thickness of the brush tip, when the Chenille microfiber is compressed, is minimally about 1 inch thick, and up to about 2 inches wide. Therefore, if the spaces through which you want to insert the brush are smaller than this, the brush won't fit. And, for the handy lug nut cleaner, again this fits most wheels on the road today. However, there are makes and models of cars and SUVs that have individual covers on each of the lug nuts (Volvos, Audis, Volkswagons, etc.), or the lug nut area is concealed under center hub covers (Audis, Volkswagons, Cadillacs, etc.) - and, in these cases the lug nut cleaner would not fit, or even be necessary if lug nut areas are covered.
